Northland
Council information only
Council flood information is linked only: the candidate dataset has conflicting commercial-use licence wording. No overlay here does not mean no flood risk.

Mount Albert, Auckland · Search to load
Dashed circle: 500m search area · Dot: search centre
All 16 regions, plus Rakiura and the Chatham Islands. “Selected overlays” does not mean complete regional coverage. Some official viewers cannot be republished here under their current terms.
Council information only
Council flood information is linked only: the candidate dataset has conflicting commercial-use licence wording. No overlay here does not mean no flood risk.
Northland council informationSelected overlays
Council flood plains, ponding susceptibility and overland flowpaths. Different methods and coverage; not a complete hazard inventory.
Auckland council informationCouncil information only
Official regional flood mapping is linked only. The 1:50,000 candidate is CC BY-ND, not licensed for this adapted overlay.
Waikato council informationCouncil information only
Use council information. The public Flood Hazard Mask is an information index, not flood hazard geometry; no eligible flood overlay is reproduced.
Bay of Plenty council informationSelected overlays
Plan classifications for several assessed areas, not one uniform model or districtwide coverage. Preserve the exact category.
Gisborne / Tairāwhiti council informationHistorical / legacy only
Historical observed event extents only. The current model service could not be verified working; use council flood information for present/future hazards.
Hawke’s Bay council informationHistorical / legacy only
Only the NPDC legacy layer, unchanged since 1998, is reproduced. Newer urban Flood Viewer data require republication consent; neither provides regionwide coverage here.
Taranaki council informationHistorical / legacy only
Observed 16 February 2004 flooding only. The modelled 200-year source has conflicting rights and is not reproduced.
Manawatū–Whanganui council informationCouncil information only
Greater Wellington flood information is linked only; substantial republication requires consent. Absence here is not absence of hazard.
Wellington council informationSelected overlays
Local adopted flood-depth scenarios and Richmond-only TRMP flowpath linework. Model coverage and assumptions vary; coastal-overtopping scenarios are separately labelled.
Tasman council informationCouncil information only
Council river models are linked only. The dataset-specific reuse restriction needs clarification despite the containing web map’s CC licence.
Nelson council informationSelected overlays
Environment Plan flood-hazard classifications, not a stated AEP/depth model or complete catchment coverage.
Marlborough council informationCouncil information only
Council river models are linked only: commercial reuse requires agreement. Public tiles do not establish republication permission.
West Coast council informationSelected overlays
Locally adopted depth scenarios, including Mason/Waiau. Choose an exact scenario; the service is a patchwork, not uniform regionwide coverage.
Canterbury council informationCouncil information only
ORC river/lake flood information is linked only. Dataset-specific LGOIMA access terms do not clearly grant commercial copyright reuse.
Otago council informationSelected overlays
Mainland significant-floodplain mapping only; not a probability, depth or pluvial model. Coverage does not extend to Rakiura.
Southland council informationCouncil information only
Explicit gap: no eligible authoritative river/pluvial flood overlay was found. Mainland Southland data do not cover Rakiura; land-use capability and tsunami maps are not substitutes.
Rakiura / Stewart Island council informationCouncil information only
Explicit gap: no eligible river/pluvial flood layer was found. Council emergency information includes tsunami evacuation zones, which are not flood-model substitutes.
Chatham Islands council informationA guide to mapped hazards, not a property assessment. Check council records and get site-specific advice before making decisions.
Region shortcuts open one example location, not a region-wide search. Search an address or drag the map and select “Search this area” to check a 500m area. Vector features intersecting the circle are shown in full. Depth images cover the enclosing square, not the whole model. Blank areas may be unmodelled or NoData.
Duly filters public services to the search area, rounds vector coordinates for display and reprojects selected depth images. Retrieval time is not the model date. Layers differ in purpose, age, climate assumptions and geographic coverage; they must not be combined into a risk score.
A 100-year ARI event is not a prediction that flooding happens once every 100 years. Historical observations, planning classifications, terrain-derived routes and hydraulic models answer different questions.

These layers are not a complete inventory of flood hazards. They do not determine depth at a building, insurability, development consent or tsunami evacuation requirements. Councils do not endorse this map.
